UPDATE FROM BISHOP KURT ON COVID-19 AND PUBLIC SERVICES IN THE CHURCH

Dear Parishioners and Friends,

Christ is risen! Khrystos voskrese!

Please read the bishop’s letter attached here on the pandemic and public services in the church. In sum, here in NJ we won’t have the public services through May 13th. The situation will be revaluated and we will be informed on what will happen next. In the meantime, we continue with the live streaming of the Divine Liturgy, is somebody wishes to come for the confession, you can do it just please call the Father. You are all remembered during each Divine Liturgy and probably the very first time that we all go back to the church, will be a special and unique moment and we look forward to it.
May God bless you all and be safe!

Palm Sunday message from Nativity Byzantine Catholic Church

Happy Palm Sunday!
As the Prophet Zechariah said:

“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Sion, shout for joy, O daughter of Jerusalem: BEHOLD THY KING will come to thee, the just and saviour: he is poor, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt, the foal of an ass.”

The prophecy was fulfilled hundreds of years later as we read in The Gospel of Saint John:

“And on the next day, a great multitude that was come to the festival day, when they had heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried: Hosanna, blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord, the king of Israel. And Jesus found a young ass, and sat upon it, as it is written: Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy king cometh, sitting on an ass’s colt. These things his disciples did not know at the first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things to him.”

Make way for the King today and always in your life.
God grant you many years.
Blessings,

To our church family. If you have the means to donate, please do. We understand these are trying times but we still have all the same costs to run even if we aren’t open. You can donate by either making a check out to us and sending it to the address above, meeting with Father Jerry at the church, or by clicking the “Donate” button on the page. (Desktop to the right and mobile at the bottom). Thank you.

Welcome to our Church! Visitors are always welcome. We hope you like what you see and decide to join us.
We are a Byzantine Catholic Church within The Eparchy of Passaic.
For those more familiar with Roman Catholic churches, we assure you that we are just as Catholic. We are recognized by the Pope and we are in full communion with the Roman Catholic Church. Our sacraments, while not always identical in form to those of the Roman churches, are spiritually equivalent.
The Byzantine Catholic service is called a Liturgy rather than a Mass. Most of it is sung, either by the pastor, the congregation, or both. There are no instruments in use other than the voices of the parishioners.
Join us for a social hour with coffee and food following the Sunday Divine Liturgy, in the Rectory.
May God grant you many spiritually blessed years!

We are in need of repairs to the roof. Any help would be greatly appreciated. You can donate with a card by clicking the donate button on the right. Thank you and God Bless!
